Mount Juliet Cake Smash Photographer

A cake smash photoshoot is a fun and memorable way to celebrate you baby's first birthday. Here are some tips to help you make the most of the session:

Planning the Photoshoot

1. Choose a Theme: Some clients reach out with a theme already in mind while some don’t have a theme picked out just yet. I’m here to tell you it’s perfectly fine if you don’t have a cake smash session theme picked out just yet! I’m happy to suggest a theme or plan one together. Either way it’s sure to be a whole lot of fun during your child’s Mount Juliet Cake Smash Session.

2. Pick the Right Cake: One of the best parts to booking your cake smash session with Amber Dupree Photography is that the cake comes included in the session fee. That means no need to go searching for a baker or designing the cake, I do all that for you! I have a wonderful baker that I have been working with for the last 5 years and her cakes are DELICIOUS!

3. Prepare the Space: Best part, no need to do any setting up, cleaning up, or taking down. That is all taken care of for you when booking your Mount Juliet photography studio session.

4. Gather Props: No need to gather any props as I will have everything set up and ready to go for you! Occasionally clients have something special to them that they would like to incorporate in their cake smash session and I’m happy to do so, just let me know ahead of time and we can get it planned.

5. Time it Right: Cake smash sessions usually take place in my Mount Juliet photography studio at 10 am but if your little one takes a nap around that time then we can plan for a later time in the day.

During the Photoshoot

1. Capture the Anticipation: During your little one’s first birthday cake smash session we will start with family photos, then move on to the cake smash set prior to putting the cake down. After a few shots we will then get ready to start the fun-smashing of the cake! After your little one is all done we will finish the session up with splashing fun in a cute little tub (also helps for cleaning up baby while they get to have some extra fun!)

2. Let the Baby Explore: I like to allow the baby to interact with the cake at their own pace. I like to encourage little ones to explore their cake at their own pace. However, some babies are unsure about their cake but don’t worry I have some tricks to help capture them touching the cake and sometimes that helps get them to being comfortable grabbing the cake!

3. Take Different Angles: Shooting from various angles allows me to capture different expressions and interactions. Close-ups of messy hands and cake-covered faces can be oh-so adorable and often times, parent favorites!

4. Keep it Light and Fun: We maintain a playful and relaxed atmosphere during your little one’s Mount Juliet cake smash photography session. If the baby starts to get fussy or shows signs of being done with the cake, we don’t force it. We just move on! But trust me, by that point we have certainly gotten plenty of adorable photos!

After the Photoshoot

1. Clean Up: Best part, other than enjoying the images for a lifetime, clients don’t have to clean up the mess. I take care of all of the clean up AND you get to go home with any of the remaining cake.

2. Select the Best Shots: Clients have the opportunity to do a same day ordering appointment or due to little ones we may decide to come back on another day to select your images. During your ordering appointment you would get to select your favorite images and how you would like to enjoy them for a lifetime. I offer various wall art as well as table top options such as heirloom albums, print box, and acrylic blocks.

3. Share the Memories: When purchasing products, clients get to also enjoy the cooresponding complimentary digital image(s)-This makes albums a client favorite!
